March 2025
If you follow me, or have read my past blog posts, you may have seen that I have been having glass quality issues. The glass I faithfully used for years in Seattle just doesn’t like the pot in my furnace. Earlier this month I took a trip to Third Degree Glass in St.Louis for a conference put on by Glasma- a Swedish batch company (Batch is the raw material you melt to get glass) After months of trying to troubleshoot my glass quality issues- and really not wanting to rip apart the furnace that I just rebuilt… I have switched glass- for now- to using Glasma batch.
So much time and money has been wasted melting and throwing away glass in the last few months it feels good to move forward. The downside is that this new glass is not compatible with the old glass I used. What does this mean exactly? It means a lot of my prepped cane + pattern seeds are no good, for now. There are a few options to use up those things - but for the time being, I need to move forward.
After months of delays - I guess it’s time to pull more cane 🙃
Cheers,
Janusz
